SCRIPT RELEASE

Auto Credit Based on SledDriver's Stiletto-X

Do you get pestered by people you'd rather never hear from? Would you like to make your SimplePlanes experience more pleasant by not having to see comments from people you would never interact with in real life? If so, this script is for you! Just install it in Greasemonkey/Violentmonkey for Firefox, or Tampermonkey for Chrome, and it will replace all comments from everyone not included in the whitelist with the text "BLOCKED." Make sure to configure it with the usernames of people you do want to hear from, and also to include your own username :)

Now, as for the airplane: it's a low part count version of the Stiletto-X. If the part count on that was too high to be playable, try this one.

    @SledDriver That makes more sense when you phrase it that was. I thought that you were saying that there was an idea that "every valuable comment must die".
    As for your system, that is pretty fair.

    @KSPFSXandSP Here's how I handle blocks: if I see a username I haven't seen before, I see if they've upvoted the build they're commenting on. If yes, I add that user to the whitelist and check their comment. If it's nasty, I block them again. If it's not, they stay on the whitelist. Sound fair?

    Also, I've never said valuable opinions need to die, just the worthless ones. Quote: "This idea that every opinion is valuable needs to die."

    @SledDriver And as for being a good friend, while I suspected I would probably be on the 'good list' it's always nice to know for sure!

    @SledDriver Why would valuable opinions need to die?
    I totally agree that some comments are truly worthless, but what if there is a new user out there who wants to comment about one of your aircraft, but can't, because you blocked him?

    @chancey21 Well, that's what my last comment is all about. Every script is different, the user interface depends entirely on the script's creator. Some scripts may have a command-line interface, others may have complex GUIs.

    using them, like for example, one of WNP78's scripts @SledDriver

    @chancey21 Well, for that particular script, you first need to download Python and install it. Python is a scripting language. Install it with the default options.

    Next, get your image ready. Make sure the image is pretty small, like 20 x 20 pixels. You'll also need to reduce the color palette (the number of colours in the image) to less than 256. It's probably better if you just get an 8-bit-color icon off the internet and save it as a PNG in the same folder as the script.

    Then, just run the script (double-click on it or press Enter). It will open a command prompt, asking you to give it the path to a PNG image file. If you saved the file as test.png, type in test.png and then Enter. If you did everything right, it should generate a file called image.xml in your SP airplanes folder. Launch SP and see if you have an airplane called image. That'll be the generated file.

    As for scripting in general, are you asking about using scripts, or creating them yourself?

    Even if I get python how does that effect SP? Is it a script to create certain XML file? @SledDriver

    Hi again, I wasn’t asking about that script in particular but just how to use scripts @SledDriver

    @Texasfam04 Well, you didn't have to do that, but thanks. You have a nice day too (I mean that in the nice way, not the "go away" way :)

    @Texasfam04 I appreciate the support, I really do, but please don't give them an excuse to start commenting on my posts again.

    And we know what the problem is, anyway. These are just people who were raised to believe that if they just throw enough tantrums, people will get tired of it and give them what they want.

    There are two kinds of people in this world: those who deal with other people nicely (positive reinforcement), and those who apply a negative stimulus first, then demand that you give them what they want, if you want them to stop being a pain. Taken a bit further, this forms the basis of the criminal mentality ("pay up or we'll set your store on fire/break your knees/hurt your family, etc.").

    I've been dealing with the latter kind of people for the last few years in real life, and as a result of those extremely unpleasant experiences, I've taken a vow never to reward this kind of behaviour. Because if you give in to this kind of thing, you just encourage it, and you will get more of it. I've made it one of my life's minor missions, whenever I encounter people like that, to teach them a lesson they'll never forget.

    @ChristianFennell Is that what they're saying now? The motives dumb people ascribe to others reveal more about themselves than the person they're talking about. It's a waste of time trying to reason with the unreasonable.

    Now if you'll excuse me, I have to find more recruits for the Cult of the Sled.

    Thanks, @Texasfam04. If only real life were scriptable...

    while(!self.enoughMoney)
            self.money += UNGODLY_AMOUNT;
    if(person.isAnnoying)
            world.delete(person);
    if(self.location.isBoring)
            self.location = selectRandomAwesomeLocation();
    weapons.giveAll({ infiniteAmmo = true });
    self.godMode(true);

    @ChristianFennell Really? I like to think that I act a bit nicer than this SledDriver you worship. He's a case of crippling pride and being spoiled with the chance to create planes no one else can. I have only ever said ONE mean comment on his planes. And that comment was because he had blown up in my face about forgetting to upvote his planes. Other than that, I have been as nice as can be to a stuck-up jerk like him for as long as I can. This was the tipping point, where he refused to let new players even TALK with him. He screened out all but the soul butter. Honestly? You guys make me sick. Now go, follow your king's coattails.

    Sled, you are one of the most creative minds on here and you are right its as you say “ plain old jealousy “. I love seeing your builds as do many others, thank you for all you do to contribute to the SP community. I have a request.... can you write me a script for bill collectors ? 😂😂😂

    @chancey21 You're probably better off asking the script author to do that. I have to leave for work now (it's morning in Australia), but when I get back I'll take a look at it and get back to you.

    @chancey21 And if you look closely, many of my aircraft are inspired by the Blackbird: long, pointy fuselage with chines, wings placed way back, and two massive wing-mounted engines.
