A318[IAE]
The A318, also known as the "Mini Airbus", is the smallest member of the A320 family. Pilots trained on the A320 can fly the A318 without additional certification, as its characteristics are largely the same as those of its sister aircraft. The A318 can carry up to 109 passengers in 2 cabin configurations, and the A318 is available in different configurations with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 59 tons to 68 tons and a maximum cruising range of 2,750 km (1,500 nautical miles) to 6,000 km (3,250 nautical miles). One of the main drawbacks of the A318 compared to other models in the A320 family is that the cargo door is too small compared to a standard container, making it almost impossible to carry larger cargo. The A318's lighter weight than the A320 gives it a cruising range increase of about 10%, allowing it to serve on routes that the A320 doesn't serve: London City Airport, for example. This model is mainly used on short-haul, low-stop density routes between medium-sized cities. Frontier Airlines, West Air and Air France, the initial users, began receiving them in 2003, and Frontier Airlines took over its first aircraft in July of that year. The A318 costs around $39 million to $45 million, and a daily flight costs about $3,000/500 miles
