Brief Information

The Poyasakai FA-33G is a twin-engine tandem-seat supermaneuverable multi-role strike fighter aircraft derived from the MRF.45D Akagi-F2D, serving as the Royal Fabellan Marines Air Service's primary frontline carrier-borne strike fighter. As a Marines-focused frontline maritime strike fighter, her features were primarily focused on ground attack, anti-shipping, close air support but with enhanced capabilities due to its improving technologies given by various companies.

Based off between the Sukhoi Su-30 and the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, her performance data is above the Poyasakai MRF.35 Kaga and the Navy's Cormack Type 60 Illustrious. Its mainstay of her performance only falls between the Su-27/30/33 and the F/A-18E/F, yet not as deadly as the Su-37, which her performance values are hard to achieve Su-37-grade data.

Powered by improved Maikaze 37 engines with 3D vectored thrust, she is able to achieve a cobra maneuver, and evasive stunts as well. It also has a technology called the Single Engine Overdrive System (SEOS), to achieve war emergency power in case of one engine loss.

She is currently in service only for the Royal Fabellan Marines Air Service. The best-known squadron to use the Drake was the VMFA-236 Gargoyles, scoring many in anti-terrorist operations.

History

Akagi-F2's maritime strike counterpart, the Drake

As the MRF.45 Akagi-F2 entered service in the Karyan and Fabellan air forces, plans for a strike version were proposed to the Fabellans due to an increase in terrorist insurgencies at the farther desert areas. The Royal Fabellan Marine Corps (from West Fabella - now just the Marines circa 2004) selected the proposed MRF.45EMC (Export, Marine Corps), an MRF.45D Akagi-F2D technology demonstrator that will prioritize ground attack, anti-ship, and bombing operations.

This aircraft is intended to replace the Cormack Type 34 Hermes, due to increasing problems for the fleet, both technical and accidental. While Poyasakai still develops the MRF.45EMC, the MAI evaluations are still ongoing for tests and carrier landing trials. The main features of the program were stronger landing gear and an arresting hook. The Maikaze engine, now improved will also include thrust vectoring just found in the MRF.45.

As testing started in 1990 (post-reunification), they were conducted in both Navy Base Rokkenjima and the HMFS Carrione, an Admiral Rena-class aircraft carrier. So far, no problems occurred, and few adjustments were made - thrust vectoring tests are also a success similar to the results since Karyan testing.

As tests were almost finished, she is ready for rollout in 1996, entering service to slowly replace the Hermes. She currently operates with the Royal Fabellan Marines Air Service. Exporting the Drake is unknown since she might be non-exportable or in limited-export rules.

Design and Characteristics

Overview

The Poyasakai FA-33G Drake is a cross between the Flanker and the Super Hornet, yet larger than the MRF.35 Kaga. The front sports a Flanker-like facade, while the rear side could almost resemble the Super Hornet. Its wingtips can carry two ECM pods, and also has a rearward radar on the back. The landing gear is taken from the MRF.25 Shiratsuyu fighter-bomber, but stronger and more robust than its predecessors. Canards still exist for stabilization and/or increased lift.

Engines

Powered by two Poyasakai Maikaze 37-F vectored-thrust afterburning turbofan engines, she can go up to 2000+ km/h depending on altitude on full afterburner (Mach 2). Slower than the Karyan Akagi-F2, it has to apply to Marines standards.

And yes. it can cobra.

Avionics

The Cranston Advanced S1200 bus achieves high data-link synchronization to inform aircraft from other squadrons, or allies through communication up to two to four squadrons, if not up to six if assisted by AWACS. Under the radome is a Kariosat Mion 7S AESA radar. The range can be improved when using a targeting pod.

Weaponry

Dropping the guided bomb

Firing the ATG-34J Oyashiro

Firing the AAM-219

She can accommodate up to six pylons (three on each wing) with two on the underside. Depending on the configuration, she can go air-to-air, air-to-surface, or mixed. She is also equipped with a single-barrel SGA-25-V revolver autocannon.

FA-33G

Strike variant for the Royal Fabellan Marines Air Service. Currently in service, and is not yet up for export - it is unknown.

Armament

  • 4x ATG-34J Oyashiro

  • 4x AAM-219

  • 2x Guided bombs, thanks to Beefy the Atlantine fried beef

"Philia" - Royal Fabellan Marines Air Service, VMFA-236, HMFS Admiral Rena CV-1

It was unknown that her information could be classified, but here goes a story of how and why she was infamous for two problems during a mission. It went out smoothly.

"One time in an anti-terrorist operation, this particular aircraft shot herself down - losing a tail and an engine. Was it maybe because of a faulty bullet? Well, who knows? The moment she lost both a tail and an engine, the SEOS system has engaged, and with skillful maneuvers, she managed to shoot down just five targets, all of which were a success.

As the control center ordered her to land, with all her might and assistance by her wizzo - she landed safely without any damage - this aircraft was taken to repair. Now, with that tail painted red, this signifies the bravery of the Fabellans when it comes into such a situation. Is it a bother that God has saved them, or it was the miracle of Saint Beatrice?"

Warning, warning.

This plane is NOT MOBILE-FRIENDLY in some devices. It quite lagged on my phone causing the canards to spazz out, so I have it tested by PC users. The best way to experience the Drake is by PC. Also, be careful when doing PSM as well, although overstressing tests were done by Marble as well, and it went well.

Features

  • PSM-worthy thanks to GuyFolk
  • has artificial stability (Thanks for that tip, Beefy!)
  • Detailed engine nozzle (thanks again Beefy), detailed landing gear, semi-detailed cockpit, and decals (Beefy and Paulien once again!)
  • Custom weapons (Beefy and Quackie again)
  • No G-limit. Time to push boundaries.
  • Custom wings the ED way!
  • Can do cobra, yes!
  • Another VTuber-inspired plane!

Speaking of VTuber-inspired, this plane is based on Philia Demonia, an Indonesian indie VTuber. Seeing how her design and 2D model, sparked interest for me to assign this aircraft to the Gargoyle Squadron (AC7 reference).

Activation Groups

  • AG1 to enable PSM mode - this disables canards. VTOL up to control airbrakes
  • AG2 to disarm all weapons
  • AG4 to extend fuel probe
  • AG5 + VTOL down for gyro-assist (.5) and arrestor hook deployment (1)
  • AG6 to open radome
  • AG7 for airbrakes
  • AG8 + VTOL up to fold wings - this locks airbrakes too

Caution: DO NOT ENABLE AG1 AND AG7 AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL CAUSE THE AIRBRAKES TO BREAK.

Sidenotes

Thanks to those who helped me out: GuyFolk for PSM, and Beefy for helping me make it unstable for artificial stability. Thanks to testers Marble, Quackie, GuyFolk, JS01, p0tato72, UnmanagedReservoir, and others as well. And yes, my first 1000+ part plane (Beefy go brrrrrrrrrr).

As always, new planes will come out sooner, so stay tuned. Aim high, stay safe and God bless you all.
