Northwind FL-59 Hammer
With the Cyclone Spec 2 outperforming the FL-50 and FL-52, the Wright Isles was in need of an air superiority fighter.
Originally starting development as a faster variant of the Asteroid, the FL-59 became an entirely new aircraft to replace it in the air to air role as the FL-50 was transferred to an attack role and the FL-52s being retired or transferred to reserve units. It was named the Hammer, with 6 .50 caliber guns as its armament, and carried 2 drop tanks on the wings. Its newly designed aerodynamics and weight reduction allowed it to fly and turn faster than the Asteroid. Over the span of several years it would be the biggest rival to the Cyclone S2 for air superiority against Krakabloan insurgents and the Maywar Air Corps.
Both fighters would see multiple variants developed as Howzer and Northwind tried to outperform each other for a better fighter aircraft, creating a furball effect with every aircraft production company trying to develop something to outperform, counter or defend against the others.
Activate 1 to jettison fuel tanks, VTOL for flaps, Trim is itself.
