The Su-15 interceptor was commissioned by the Soviet Air Force in 1967 as a high-altitude, high-speed interceptor to replace the aging Su-11, and proved to be extremely excellent in every respect except for its lack of range. After the end of the cold war, all Su-15 interceptors were retired in the Russian Federation in 1993.
