E2VO-10 Broadsword (Cargo)

While the Great War may have ended in Europe, the great ambitions of Epic Engineering did not diminish. Using the lessons learnt so far, Cuthbert and Albert Epic set their sights on becoming a staple of the upcoming golden age of aviation.

Origins

While the Broadsword gained popularity in the air forces it served with, the end of the war came too swift for this plane to make a significant impact. Albert, always the accountant with a keen sense for opportunities to make money, realised that by tweaking the existing airframe a little bit, this robust airframe could be viable for civilian use in emerging markets all around the world. Which is why in 1919, the first batch of the Cargo variant of the Broadsword were made. After completing a small order for Imperial Airways and KLM respectively, we at Epic Engineering decided to branch out, retaining 3 planes- the Birmingham, the Sheffield and the Mannheim- to start our own offshoot airline, providing courier and postal services to cast away regions.

Design

With only minimal adjustments to the original Broadsword having been made, the Epic Engineering livery highlights the mixed material construction method used for this airframe, with wood of the highest quality usually reserved for pianos, reinforcing the cargo section, while the main fuselage, wings and control surfaces are fabric covered. A slightly larger windscreen was added for the comfort of the pilot and now 2 passengers. The bombs in the bomb bay has been replaced with cargo, which can even be airdropped into remote areas. A chord operated parachute assures safe delivery of the goods.

Handlng

The Broadsword is a very forgiving aeroplane with a top speed of around 218kmh and a stall speed of around 80kmh. It features a tight turning circle due to it's large wing area and as such is viable as a trainer aircraft. While the brake power on the wheels is low, it does still risk pranging.

Instructions

AG1: Open cargo bay. Cargo drops automatically after 3 seconds
AG3 Parachute
