When the oblique wing concept became a reality in the early 1950s, LimeAir jumped on the opportunity for a high speed light bomber. The Shoebill was born as a realization of the concept and a show of power to enemies. Squadrons were prepared for any conflict and later flew with B-52s in operation chrome dome as early force suppression.
