Description
The Gloster Meteor F. Mk. 4 was the 4th variant of the second mass produced jet fighter, the Gloster Meteor. It was powered by Rolls-Royce Derwent V engines, as opposed to the Derwent I engines powering the Mk.1-3. It was based on modifications to the F.3 for world speed record flights, and featured shorter wings at the expense of faster takeoff speeds and longer takeoff roll.
Some warnings:
This aircraft has a G tolerance of +8Gs. If you pull more than 9 for any amount of time the wings will snap off, which as you can imagine isn't the best thing to do...so don't pull all the way over around 500mph IAS. The wings will also vibrate when in excess of 559mph IAS, which isn't particularly harmful but I thought it was a fun little quirk.
Things I did not add because the Meteor didn't have them irl:
- LCD display (invented in 1968 - 22 years after this plane would have been built)
- Drop tanks (Only Mk.7-8 variants had these, with the exception of a few Danish Mk.4s)
- Refueling probe (Only Mk.3 and Mk.8s had these, again with a couple exceptions)
- Bullet casing funnels (only Mk.8s had these)
- Normal landing gear (It's British, what did you expect the suspension to be like? - kind of a nightmare to deal with)
- Ejection seat (Meteor F.4s never had those, but a few Martin Baker T.7s still do for testing)
- Evenly spaced slots in the airbrakes
- One landing light (they have 2)
- A G meter (F.4s conveniently didn't have them, so I guess you'll just have to figure it out for yourself lol)
- Artificial horizon (F.4s only had a roll angle indicator)

Did nobody find the Easter egg it’s I’m on the verge of a mental break down
Oh
@FloridianTrainMan I think I deleted them a while ago but everyone did get their rewards
Where are the results to the logging challenge
@jinsatgat yeah it is I didn’t catch that
I love the G tolerance. Very fun to fly.
I think 'Lights' switch is connected with yaw pedal.
Really like the wing riping feature, super cool addition
@DanDaFreakinMan You'd have to just open the cockpit and click them from outside or increase FOV
How do non-VR players activate switches? I see that you can click the switches with your mouse, but my screen didn't want to stay down so I can locate the switch for some reason. Oh well.
The plane looks gorgeous! Excellent detailing like usual. It performs, well, I guess I don't need to state anything right now. Though its lights switch appears to be attached to the right yaw pedal? Nobody uses yaw in this game anyway
It actually flies kinda fine without wings
@WiiMini thanks
@Bellcat I’m not depressed, and I have a therapist, but thanks
@meteorbook345, I am sorry you feel bad, but you might want to consult assistance for help. Go to a low mental state hotline like this one(although you can only use this hotline on Mondays through Fridays); that should cure your depression eventually.
.
Get well soon. :)
@Tang0five yeah fair, it’s just an annoying CoM bug
Love Gloster, love the meteor! I wouldn’t worry about flaws (I don’t think there’s anything to get upset over) - this is simpleplanes after all, if people want absolute realism they can always get that through a flight sim :)
Pog plen
@Sparky6004 thanks
@meteorbook345 hope you get through it soon. You will, definitely. Just may take time. Don’t get too down on yourself when you feel low, you have a bunch of friends on here and discord a message away.
@PioneerThe2nd Now it's off center in the opposite direction after mirroring?? What?
@PioneerThe2nd They're both at the same X coordinates, but my CoM is off center for some reason, I don't know why?

Um...what? Nice build by the way, great dedication to realism
Very nice aircraft! And dont worry about flaws, my aircraft have so many, but i still love them. I think the best thing to do, at least for me, is not to think of them as flaws but as quirks that make my craft different from anothers. Really awesome job!
Nice man!
@PioneerThe2nd because if it is that’s actually pretty easy to fix
@PioneerThe2nd oh my god is that why it’s auto rolling
