RFF Admiral Rozhestvenskiy (033) 1944
Development
After the situation in post-tsarist Russia, which had been ruled by Denikin for several years, stabilized, the authorities, led by the supreme leader of the Russian people, needed a strong fleet. In fact, the reason for this is simple - a likely opponent for the new Russia in the near future is a revanchist Japan.... And the Russian navy needs battleships that would meet all the requirements for a perfect warship of that period, taking into account the experience of ships of Western powers.
In 1933, in the design bureau at the metal plant in Petrograd, engineer Morozov drew a sketch of a battleship, where the main artillery was located at the front end of the ship - two towers in front of the superstructure and one behind it. Morozov spied this idea from the drawing and eesque project N3, which he spied during his trip to the British Admiralty. The engineer claimed that this design would allow the ship to have a smaller but more powerful armored belt with a relatively lower mass compared to rivals from other countries - the Japanese Kii, the French Bourgogne or the British St. Vincent, which is the very ship built according to the N3 project......
In addition, there was a project from navalny, in which it was supposed to install all 3 towers in front of the superstructure, getting something like Nelson
As a result, the project of engineer Morozov was adopted, and preliminary work began in 1936. The finished sketch and drawing of the ship were presented in 1937, the laying of the first ship of the four subsequent ships took place on June 12, 1939. Admiral Rozhestvensky was the first to be completely built, named after the brilliant Admiral Zinovy Rozhestvensky, who, instead of going into a frontal attack in Tsushima, decided to keep the forces of his second squadron in reserve, which eventually helped in 1905. In total, a series of 4 ships was planned, with the possible construction of a fifth ship in the series.... All the ships were built in the period before the Second Great War (October 3, 1956), but two of them, Essen and Istomin, were only undergoing military trials...
