Background
The Mo.203 was a single engine, low wing heavy fighter designed in 1940 by Ings. Riccardo Sazzi and Calogero Poltini. The 203 was the first successful design from Mollane, saving them from bankruptcy.
It used a Fiat A.96 Radial engine developing ~1700hp,propelling the 5 ton 203 up to 500 kph.
This 203, belonging to 39th Gruppo Silurante (Torpedo Group), was painted in the standard "Blu Mediterraneo" livery and had been modified to have foldable wings.
The armament was composed of twin 20mm auto cannons, two 12.7mm Mgs in the cowl and two 8mm mgs in the wings. Optional load were three 100kg bombs or one 260kg Torpedo.
