“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants” -Thomas Jefferson. The North American F-10 Wombat was born out of a mixture of Soviet, American, and Canadian Engineering. The timeframe to design and produce this aircraft was 4 months, as the newly birthed North American Democracy had only a small reserve of phantoms and tomcats in order to combat the USSR’s huge stockpiles of light fighter aircraft. The doctrine behind the F-10 was to have a limited number of extremely elite fighter aircraft, carrying an obscene payload: 10x LAM-1 Multi-Role long range missiles. (For use at long range and strike missions) 2x SRM-1 and 2x SRM-2 Short Range Missiles (for use in dogfights <1.5 miles, these missiles are incredibly maneuverable, have a 180* lock angle, and lock instantly) and 4x ALCMs, or Air Launched Cruise Missiles. I believe that the name reflects them well.
