X-26-1C variant, this version has a body made out of fuselage blocks instead of regular ones, 2 more machineguns and a gyroscope. What appears next is the “Backstory” of the aircraft. The X-26 is a short-range emergency interceptor and ground attacker use to take on targets located at dangerous distance from an allied bases, airfields or fleets. Originally, the X-26 was going to be a twin-prop fighter and interceptor (1A variant) but due to problems related to stability it was canceled and only used for test later on. After came the X-26 B variants that used Blasto J50 turbo engines and C variants that replace regular blocks with fuselage ones and a Gyroscope. The aircraft was quickly changed to a low altitude emergency fighter due to a problem persistent in both early prototypes and current models being fuel consumption. The engines, Aldo produced just enough speed, consumed a lot of fuel. It is said that engineers behind the project will use a different engine for the D variants which is expected to produce the same power with a longer flite time. Despite the problem with fuel consumption, the B variants showed the aircraft worthy of the project’s continuation since the new jet engines produced more power, made the aircraft more stable and, according to accounts from test pilots, even made the aircraft more maneuverable. This improvement safe the project from being canceled.
