McDonnell Model III "Angelbat"

30.0k Dumpworks  7.1 years ago

McDonnell's prototype, using a similar design philosphy to McDonnells earlier design the XP-67 "Moonbat" to create a smooth extremely aerodynamic aircraft, though instead of a twin-engined aircraft it was opted to create a single engined contra-rotating prop, this reduced the weight and some of the cost, though the "Angelbat" ran into a similar problem to it's predecessor the engine was unreliable and prone to breaking, they weren't able to keep the "Angelbat" airborne fo any considerable amount of time so it's flight characteristics were unknown
