GIAT Common Vehicle Platform

13.4k airlinerbuilder  one month ago

Hello everyone! pretty important post today. Why? Because this basic 4 wheeled thing you're looking at is the foundation of every single car i will make. Confused? I'll explain this, let's get into it...

-What is this?
The C.V.P. is a car platform designed to be extremely flexible. You see, when i search for car platforms on the site they're often of very high build quality and realism but this makes them hard to adapt to different car/vehicle sizes. But on the other side a lot of people just don't develop platforms and only use the in-game springs for suspension.
The C.V.P. is supposed to be a middle ground between these 2 approaches, an actual physical platform that replicates a real car platform while also being simple to use and apply on multiple vehicles.
I made this mostly because i find creating and refining a platform for a new car every single time a very long and sometimes boring process so this helps me cut straight to building.

-How does it work?
lol

-Extension Arms: The flexible sections of the body, you can stretch, shorten, raise or lower them depending on the vehicle you're building. But keep in mind that the platform doesn't support microcars (<3.0 m long vehicles)
-Fuel Tanks: They're just simple stock fuel tanks arranged like batteries would be in an EV, allowing a flat floor that doesn't eat interior space. You can easily change the capacity of each one but keep in mind that they are the main source of weight.
-Stock Wheels: They can also be modified easily to fit different vehicles, and can be swapped for a custom tire set-up with custom rims.
-Motors: Since this platform is meant for EVs there are 2 tiny jet engines already modified to reduce consumption and give adequate power (but nothing stops you from slapping an ICE or a weird engine contraption) you should only keep in mind that they are speed limited to 130 km/h and you can adjust that by modifying the number in the FT code of the engine.
-Other Features: The car uses a MacPherson type suspension that is fit for most road going cars but it will need some work on sport cars (i'm also developing a high comfort version of the platform replicating the suspension of the 2CV). Also it's already equipped with Parking Brakes controllable with AG8.

Hope y'all will like it, since this kind of post is a little different from my usual stuff.
The platform is

Free to use

but if you do end up using it please tag me under your build in the comments since i'd love seeing what you could do with this :)
