Japan Airlines had planned to introduce (five) Boeing 2707 supersonic passenger aircraft to meet the demand for high-speed air transportation on international routes. The Boeing 2707 is a supersonic transport (SST) concept designed by the United States in the 1960s to compete with the British-French Concorde. The 2707 was originally planned to adopt a variable sweep wing design and fly at a speed of Mach 2.7. However, due to technical challenges, rising costs and environmental concerns, the plan was canceled in 1971 and ultimately failed to reach mass production.
