Guardian of the Heavens (Bavar-373)
Air Defense System : vertical launch launcher
Bavar-373 (Persian: ????-???, meaning "Belief" and 373 being the Abjad numerals for "?? ?????????" or "O, Messenger of Allah!") is an Iranian long-range, road-mobile surface-to-air missile system that was first revealed in August 2016. Iran claims it to be a competitor to the S-300 missile system. This system is produced by the Iranian Defence Ministry with the collaboration of local manufacturers and universities.
It was officially unveiled on 22 August 2019 during a ceremony attended by Iranian President and was declared operational on the same day.
An upgraded version was introduced in 2022, which Iran describes as a rival to the S-400 system. This upgraded version is said to be capable of downing fifth-generation fighter aircraft.
