Description

The F-5E Tiger II is a 1970s American-built supersonic light fighter jet developed by the Northrop Corporation. It is a single seat twin engine swept wing fighter jet with a slim fuselage, the F-5E version is an extensive update of the previous F-5A Freedom Fighter, with a more powerful J85-21 engine, leading edge extensions, and an AN/APQ-153 radar. The F-5 could go up to speeds of Mach 1.6 and a service ceiling of 15km/9.6mi, with a combat radius of 220km/140mi. It is armed with internal 20mm M39 autocannons on the nose and suspended armaments consisting of two AiM-9 Sidewinders on the wingtips, Mk. 80 series of bombs, Zuni and Hydra rockets, as well as guided munitions such as Maverick missiles and Paveway bombs. The aircraft participated in many conflicts throughout history, such as the Vietnam War, Ogaden War, and Iran-Iraq War, it's turn rate and energy retention making it an excellent energy fighter. Indonesia purchased 16 F-5 Tigers in the early 1980s, equipping Skadron Udara 14 (Air Squadron 14) stationed in East Java, the F-5s would be in operation with the Indonesian Air Force for 36 years, with the last aircraft being withdrawn in 2016, replaced by the more capable F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Features

• Custom camouflage - two tone blue paint job and markings based on the irl F-5 "TS-0502" that is now a monument in Bandung.
• Detailed cockpit - mostly on the center console, I made this cockpit dang near three years ago 💀
• Somewhat realistic performance - probably not at all accurate, but it feels realistic.
• Semi-realistic weaponry - The AiM-9 on this build is fire-and-forget, have 20g maneuverability, and has a simulated rear-aspect seeker, as well as limited fuel and range so it doesn't chase the target after it missed. The cannon also has buffed damage values so it doesn't take like 70 rounds to take out a wing.
