AerFer Sagittario 2
I saw this little gem at a recent visit to the Italian Air Force Museum. The Aerfer Sagittario 2 was a single-seat lightweight fighter aircraft built at Pomigliano d'Arco near Naples, where I now live. The Sagittario was the first Italian aircraft to break the sound barrier in controlled flight when it reached Mach 1.1 during a dive from 45,000 ft, but although it was agile and pilot-friendly, it never entered service due to the IAF deciding to go with the F86 Sabre. Original armament consisted of twin Hispano-Suiza 30mm cannon mounted on the nose cowling.
If I'm not mistaken, a missile capable variant did see military service as the Fairchild Archer, but by now the F100 was waiting in the wings, and then the F104 and EE Lightning trotted along to hammer the final nails into the small fighter coffin. This is my take on the plane; she's a nice little handler, over 500 KTS at sea level, and if you can get her down on the piano keys, at about 15% throttle and discretionary flaps, she'll use less than half of North Runway, even without airbrakes. As they say here, "Mamma mia!" And because I can't deny my roots, I'll add an "Old Chap!!"
Controls:
Nose steering is on the stick not yaw,
VTOL down & AG1 for airbrakes,
AG2 for lights,
Flaps VTOL down. Hope you enjoy the ride.

@Alien I wouldnt give praise on looks alone, old chum. I shudder to think how many G the pilot is suffering...
One thing I noticed was that trim was tied to both pitch and roll. Couldnt for the life of me figure out why she was rolling when all I wanted to do was set the pitch.
Very fast too. I like it. Keep em coming!
@GhostHTX Grazie vecchio fagiolo! (Thanks old bean). Have you taken her for a spin yet? She's quite a nifty little dogfighter!
Alora!
I mean, cripes! The rock I live under need better cable.
Cant believe I havent seen this?! Bellissimo, old boy, bloody bellissimo!
@Baduba hope I don't disappoint! All the best, bro.
@Alien nice to hear that there are still people like you who build for fun and not just for upvotes. I'm looking forward to your next creations!
@Baduba thanks for the comment, man. Upvotes are nice but not the reason I build. If I'm satisfied and I get some positivity from guys like yourself, then that's cool.
@Alien You're welcome. In my opinion your plane should get more Upvotes!
Thanks @Baduba
