B-42 Bloodhound
The B-42 “Bloodhound” was a modified variant of the B-24 “Liberator” bomber. Towards 1943, the US Navy needed a bomber capable airplane to supplement their current, in service, land based bombers. But it also needed to be small, small enough that if needed, could be transported via ship. The solution was simple, take a B-24 style body, remove excess and or useless things (ie: belly turret), and make it shorter. The final product was the B-42. Right out the gate it was what the Navy wanted, although by the time it was finished, the US Navy no longer had a practical use for it and production stopped. Nonetheless, it gave good service and saw some action in the Pacific Theater.
So... this is my gold build. Not much to say about this one. Except thank you again to everyone who helped me get to gold. I think it’s a pretty big milestone, and I’m happy to be here.
ENJOY!!!
