Based on the Wright Air Force's De-F5, the De-F5-N was designed for use on the Wright Navy's sole carrier, the former USS Tiny. Differences from its WAF counterpart included arresting gear, foldable wings, a smaller turn radius and a more centralized weapon loadout. The De-5 series aircraft would reliably serve both the WAF and WN, with the first De-F5 being deployed in 1953 and the last De-F5-N being retired from carrier usage in 1974. Other De-5 series craft, such as the De-A5 (Attacker), De-E5 (Electronic Warfare), De-R5 (Recon) and De-T5 (Tanker) would serve much longer. They provided reliable service during the many battles and skirmishes with the Yeager Empire.
