Summary

The Paternia-class is a class of supercarriers operated by the Paternian Navy. The lead ship of the class, PRN Paternia (CVN-21) is named after the Paternian Republic, and are named after the largest geographic divisions of the Paternian Republic. With a length of almost 305 m (1002 ft) and a displacement of 90,000-105,000 metric tons, the Paternia-class is currently the heaviest combat warship in the Paternian Navy.

Propulsion

She is powered by two A1B fusion reactors, each producing 800 MW of power to drive her two azipods to propel her to at least 30 knots, but to operate directed energy weapons and the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, or EMALS. The nuclear reactors can power her for over 25 years before refueling. Given the 75-year service life of the ships, that means they only need to be refueled twice in their entire operational lifespan. As a result, they are classified as nuclear aircraft carriers and given consecutive hull numbers between 21 and 31.

Aircraft Complement

The Paternia-class' use of an angled flight deck and aircraft catapults enable her to launch and recover a variety of aircraft, with EMALS for launch and arresting wires for recovery. This gives the type the ability to launch and recover a wider variety of aircraft faster than any other warship. Compared to the normally STOVL operation of the Paternian Navy's Ocean-class and Guam-class (which can be configured for STOBAR operations), the Paternia-class gives the Paternian Navy unparalleled strike capability.

With an air wing of up to 90 aircraft, the Paternia-class is among the most powerful aircraft carriers. The principal strike aircraft onboard is the F-45CN and the F/A-17E/F Super Wasp. The carrier also carries short-range air, missile, and surface defense capabilities.
