Race Plane Challenge 2.0 (CLOSED)
(CLOSED: Challenge results can be found here: https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/137111/Race-Plane-Challenge-2-0-Results )
Welcome to the second edition of the RACE PLANE CHALLENGE! This round of the challenge is sponsored by the Sportlight Aircraft Co.
This challenge will once again be to build a race plane to compete on the Oceanview Speedway. This time around, we will be separating planes into different classes to compete for different titles. Below are the the classes, and a brief description of them:
-Single Propeller Engine Race Plane- Any plane having only a single engine.
-Twin Propeller Engine Race Plane- Any plane having two engines, regardless of placement or fuselage type.
-Light Single Jet- Any plane that uses a single BlastoJ15 jet engine as it's propulsion.
-Light Twin Jet- Any plane that uses two light BlastoJ15 engines as propulsion, regardless of placement or fuselage type.
-Replica Modern Race Plane- Any plane designed to resemble a real modern race plane (single or twin engine acceptable).
-Replica Historic Race Plane- Any plane designed to resemble a real historical plane (single or twin engine acceptable)
-Fantasy Unlimited- This class is for planes that are designed to look awesome, and do not fit in to any of the prior classes (this class and the replica classes have special rules, so please pay attention below).
Since this challenge is separated into various classes, it has become necessary to refine the challenge rules. Please read below and take note of the rules for this competition, as all entries must follow the challenge rules and meet the minimum challenge requirements, as well as the requirements for their desired class.
Rules are as follows:
-ALL entries must be posted as a successor.
-ALL entries, regardless of designated class, must be able to complete one (1) lap on the Oceanview Speedway.
-ALL entries, regardless of designated class, must be able to take off from a paved runway, and land without causing any damage to the plane.
-ALL classes, with the exception of the Fantasy Unlimited class, must use stock parts. XML hacking is allowed for part placement and adjustment of procedural fuselage parts, but not for modding fuel amounts or engine power.
-Prop classes may use T1000 or T2000, but the T3000 is restricted from the competition this time around.
-Replica and Fantasy Unlimited classes must be able to complete a lap on the course, but will not be included in the times for fastest lap or fastest plane. These classes will be judged on flight handling and visual accuracy to their real-life counterparts.
-Fantasy Unlimited may use any engine, and modded parts (Again, will be judged on looks, not lap times, but must meet the general requirements for all entries).
-Please indicate what class you are entering in either the description, or by tagging your plane with the appropriate tags (i.e. jet, twin-engine, propeller, replica, fictional, etc.)
Each class will have winners for that class. The Single Prop, Twin Prop, Single Light Jet, and Twin Light Jet classes will all have two categories for wins: Fasted lap time, and fasted speed under 1000ft. A jet cannot win both categories, so if you happen to be the fastest lap and fastest speed, you will on win one of those two, and the other will go to another entry.
The Replica and Unlimited classes will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place position.
The winners in each category will receive 9 up-votes.
The second place winners in Replica and Fantasy classes will receive 5 up-votes, and third will receive 3 up-votes.
All entries will receive 1 up-vote from me.
Up to two entries are allowed in separate categories.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments, and if you like this competition, up-vote it so others can see it and join in (the more entries the better :D ).
May the best builder win and
HAPPY FLYING!

@A5mod3us When will the winners be announced?
actually starting* @A5mod3us
Ps: I love the vehicals you make, very creative. I also like the challenges as well.
Yea, it was slightly difficulty actually the challenge with only two days left :) @A5mod3us
@Avgeek24 Barely squeaked it in, eh?
I'm in
@Chesscube Sounds good.
@A5mod3us I'm gonna enter the Single Propeller Engine Race Plane category.
Finally... It's finished!
I'm almost finished... at least it's still 2 weeks from deadline.
@A5mod3us I sent mine in.
@A5mod3us that's enough time. I'm in!
@Chesscube Just posted the deadline at the top of the description. Friday November 20
@A5mod3us Definitely want to be a part in this competition! Is there a deadline? If so when is it?
Looks like I almost missed the party. Alright, incoming entry from me.
Either gonna make a supermarine or dehaviland
@kikasshes that would be pretty wizard.
It would be cool to have actual contra-rotating props that were driven by the same engine
@kikasshes yes. But it would count as a twin engine class.
Are contra-rotating props allowed?
Okay, only two categories then. @A5mod3us
For fantasy unlimited
