About Md 80:

Yes

The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 is a series of five-abreast single-aisle airliners developed by McDonnell Douglas. It was produced by the developer company until August 1997 and then by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The MD-80 was the second generation of the DC-9 family, originally designated as the DC-9-80 (DC-9 Series 80) and later stylized as the DC-9 Super 80 (short Super 80). Stretched, enlarged wing and powered by higher bypass Pratt & Whitney JT8D-200 engines, the aircraft program was launched in October 1977. The MD-80 made its first flight on October 18, 1979, as the Super 80 and was certified on August 25, 1980. The first airliner was delivered to launch customer Swissair on September 13, 1980, which introduced it into commercial service on October 10, 1980.

About Dana Air:

Yes

Due to technical deficiencies in the aircraft used, the Nigerian Aviation Safety Authority (NCAA) again grounded Dana Air until further notice in January 2014. However, the airline was reinstated in December 2014.

In May 2021, Dana Air teamed-up with Ibom Air to launch the first-ever domestic airline codeshare agreement by Nigerian airlines.

On July 20, 2022, the airline had both its license and certificate suspended by the Nigerian authorities after it was deemed financially unfit to maintain operations. The airline claimed that the increase in the cost of jet fuel, unavailability of foreign exchange, and inflation were contributory factors.

However, after being reinstated by the Nigerian Aviation Safety Authority (NCAA) following the airline's success with NCAA audits, the airline resumed operations in November 2022.

About Dana Air Flight 0992:

Yes

Dana Air Flight 0992 was a scheduled Nigerian domestic passenger flight from Abuja to Lagos, Nigeria. On 3 June 2012, the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft serving the route suffered a dual-engine failure during its approach to Lagos. It failed to reach its intended destination and crashed onto buildings, killing all 153 people on board and six on the ground. With 159 deaths, it remains as the deadliest commercial airliner crash in Nigerian history since Kano air disaster in 1973.
