Nanchang Y-5 PLAAF
The Y-5 transport aircraft is China's first self-manufactured transport aircraft, which is in charge of the Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company, and its prototype is the An-2 transport aircraft designed by the Soviet Union in the 40s. Although the Y-5 has been in service for 65 years, it is still the most common transport aircraft in China due to its stable flight and low operating costs. Another advantage of the Y-5 is that it can fly stably at very low speeds and has a take-off distance of only 170 meters. The Y-5 prototype was finalized and first flew in December 1957, and was approved for mass production on December 23, 1957 under the guidance of Soviet experts and drawings. In 1958, it was produced in batches by the 320 factory, and 90 aircraft were produced that year, and a total of 728 aircraft were produced, of which 78 were foreign aid, and the continuous production lasted for 10 years. The Y-5 is widely used in training, skydiving, sports, transportation and agricultural missions
