Yes this is a real B-17 variant. There is little to no information about the BQ-7 and only 3 images of it. Here is what I know about it: The aircraft is made out of retired B-17 witch are filled with explosives and modified. Then Are flown into enemy locations radio controlled. Also they are piloted by volunteers and they eject to be radio controlled. They were not successful at all as all of the aircraft missed or crashed
