HISTORY
Nakajima Army Type 2 was designed in special need of an interceptor, one that contrived the contemporary (1940) connotation of the Japanese combined air force ; Emphasis on manoeuvrability over much else. Instead, the Ki-44 was designed with focus on climb as an interceptor.
Entering service in 1941, Ki-44 was handled acceptably considering its contrast to predecessors, as well as its high wing loading (reflected in this replica.)
