They were built under the request of Crystal Government to replace the Schmetterling class which were commissioned 25 years earlier. The Portugiesisch class were intended to serve both for the Crystal Navy and Crystal Coast Guard. All ships were named after people of nations where the Crystal Navy met or encountered on their tour in the world during the 18th century.

Development

The Crystalian Admiralty (Navy and Coast Guard) and the Crystal Government wanted to modernize their navy into a stealth fleet. With Crystal Navy's knowledge in stealth warfare, they can make a fleet of stealth ships. Under the Projekt der Marine 2065, They begin designing new ships which lasted for 7 years in total to bein building new ships starting with the Portugiesisch class, a corvette.

In the Great Country Modern Navy doctrine, Corvettes were the smallest ship in the Navy and the 3rd biggest ship in the Coast Guard. They mostly operate for coastal regions of their national waters along with the Littoral Combat Ships. Most Corvettes were armed with at least 3-5 Ground attack missiles and 5-6 Short range AA missiles, they also have 1 to 2 CIWS emplacement. It's rare for a corvette to have an aviation facility but some nations had their corvettes an ability to possess a helipad.

A solid coastal patrol ship. Quick, cheap, and surprisingly effective. Payload is lesser than other ships, but given that a costal patrol ship wouldn’t be straying too far from a friendly naval port, this is negated. Overall, an excellent warship.
Only downside: No vessel in class called Australisch.
