Designed as a response to a light strike starfighter that was a capable against other fighters as it was grounf targets or warships, the Shield Wing was designed around unusal armoured wing panels to protect the fighter's engines and life support. Packing four heavy guns and a light internal bomb load meant that the ship had teeth when it needed them. VTOL down to open bomb bay doors.
