One of the largest aircraft in history, this flying boat was developed to carry heavy weapons like Sherman tanks and artilleary pieces over the Atlantic ocean, this was meant to put an end to the U-boat attacks on US freighters, because all metals were going to the war effort the plane had to be built by wood, which earned it the name "Spruce Goose", even though it was made almost entirely out of birch wood, though this large aircraft would not be ready by WWII and instead Hughes took it for a test fligh in 1947 where the aircraft flew perfectly, many years after its first flight it is still on display in perfect condition in Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum
