Galteran Alliance Faircroft F.1 Strikefighter

540 norcourt  1.5 years ago

The first of the Faircroft Model F Series, the F.1 demonstrated a certain superiority to Alliance aircraft, with the platform and airframe outclassing all current fighter craft, and light bombers in service. Adopted in 2216 , the F.1 became the de facto standard multi-purpose aircraft of the Alliance, being built in several different variants, including an interceptor model (F.1N), several carrier based models (F.1CA Series), a two seat light bomber model (F1.B) and the model present, the F1.SF "Strikefighter" variant, with the type becoming the most popular in service with ground based squadrons. Vast quantities of the aircraft were ordered by the GAAF, though despite this, not all units completed the transition, with lack of adequate trainer models being produced to cover the grounds of the frontier border squadrons, who continued to use older Vernon-Hall types. The type would see it's baptism of fire in King Robert's War of 2218, venerating itself on all acounts of conduct and superiority. Despite it's fame, Faircroft's prize pony would soon become outclassed and pushed aside in favor for development of more advanced monoplane designs in the late 2220's and early 2230's, however, the type remained in service in the border territories up until the beginning of the Bosoran Border War.
