Hoosier spirit ii (used to be known as The Famous “Tarheel hal) is a p-47 thunderbolt that got repainted in honor to the people who created the p-47 planes in ww2 in the republic aviation co in evansville indiana, hell according to the state the plane became the symbol of the state (actually true)
Community leaders unveiled a new look for Evansville’s P-47 Friday.
The Thunderbolt “Tarheel Hal” flew into town last October.
It’s now named “Hoosier Spirit II” in honor of the first P-47 produced at the Republic Aviation plant.
Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke was there for the event.

The law was passed by the hoosiers to change tarheel hal, and they did. Its Still gonna be airworthy but however due to coronavirus, it will be in display (quarantine styled) at the Evansville wartime museum in indiana.
And will be Leaving quarantine sometime in 2022 or 2023
