The Large Payload Delivery System was designed to blow a hole in an enemy's ground defenses to expose critical weak points which follow-up bombers could more easily exploit. The Short Takeoff technology (activation group 3, VTOL up) allows the B-520 to takeoff from a shorter runway, while also allowing sudden in-flight pitch changes. An array of air-to-air missiles as well as front- and rear-facing machine guns allow the B-520 to operate with minimal fighter escort.
