P01B Luggun
P01B Luggun is the Principality of Zeon's reconnaissance plane used during the One Year War. It first appeared in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. The unit has been piloted by Char Aznable, Dren and Norris Packard
Technology & Combat Characteristics:
The Luggun is a type of reconnaissance aircraft. Its most distinguishing feature is a set of radome topped antenna used to gather data. Though it is a reconnaissance craft the Luggun is not unarmed and features four forward facing missile launcher and a pair of 2-barrel machine guns. However its weapons emplacement are not ideally suited for attacking and are meant to serve as a defense measure to scare off Earth Federation aircraft. One of Zeon's larger aircraft it was too large and slow to be an effective fighter.
Armaments20mm 2-barrel Machine Gun:
The Luggun is equipped with two 20mm 2-barrel machine guns, one mounted on the end of each wing. These guns normally face outward, allowing the guns to fire directly to port and starboard, and are able to turn 180 degrees to the front or aft on multiple occasions. The guns are capable of elevating and depressing roughly 45 degrees.
Missile Launcher:
The Luggun is equipped with four missile launchers mounted in the "neck" of the craft between the main body and the cockpit.
History:
The Luggun was developed by the Principality of Zeon as part of their preparation of the Earth invasion of the One Year War. Though used throughout the year U.C. 0079 it would fall out of favor for newer craft that are smaller, faster, and better suited for flight in the atmosphere.
Notes: VTOL to move cannons.
