This ship is in orbit around Mars to serve as a monument to the war that happened with the Martians and the Humans several years ago. When the war ended, both the Martians and the Humans lost millions of soldiers, but the opposing teams still remained standing.

Emperor Wieldstan of Mars made and arrangement with the King of Earth, Seem Phal Phlein, to stop the war and make peace. The Emperor said that in that war, no one was winning, so it had to be stopped. And it did.

And so the Monumento was built to remind the Martians and the Humans of the history of both planets.
