7.5cm CG 1

36.2k DbE  6.7 years ago

The 75mm CG uses a concept (that works) using electromagnets to propel a projectile. Now, it may sound similar to a railgun but there are some differences.

Railgun - Coilgun

Coilguns have circular barrels unlike railguns. They also have continued acceleration through the barrel. It does still take massive amounts of energy but this concept makes it easier to propel large explosive payloads. (unlike a railgun, which can only use a kinetic projectile.)

Pros:

Cheaper

More Variety

Similar power to railgun

Larger Payload

Cons:

Slightly slower

Overheats fast

Takes massive amounts of energy
