Although the A-1 and A-2 proved more than capable at destroying tanks, they weren't able to effectively destroy convoys, bunkers, bridges etc. As such, a need for a medium bomber was very clear.
Although the B-1 can't carry a lot of payload, it should be enough to destroy any pesky convoys you may encounter.
