In 2021 BAe Systems received a request from the BBC. Could they build a fast transport to take news crews to foreign countries? The new craft would need to be capable of 800 mph and be able to carry four passengers and their kit. Fortunately BAe had just designed a research aircraft that fitted the bill perfectly. The prototype was quickly developed from the research plane and flew just nine months later. Over 60 were ordered by various companies, the pilots finding them docile to fly and very fast, with a top speed of nearly 990 mph. Some were even fitted for aerial photography. AG1 switches on the landing lights and AG2 deploys the landing chute.
