Overview

The MRNS Sumire Uesaka is a Monarchii Izumo-class helicopter destroyer. She is a helicopter carrier that has been converted into a light aircraft carrier. Its high speed and maneuverability allow the ship to quickly gain tactical positions and strike from unexpected places.

Overview - Izumo-class Helicopter Destroyer

The Izumo-class destroyers (Izumo-gata-goei-kan) are helicopter destroyers in service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The official classification of these ships is DDH (helicopter-carrying destroyer), which is accepted by the United States Naval Institute; in contrast, Jane's Fighting Ships describes this official classification, but the classification is simply "helicopter carrier".

The ships of this class are currently the largest surface combatants of the JMSDF, taking over the mantle previously held by the Hyuga-class helicopter destroyers. The lead ship was officially unveiled at Yokohama on 6 August 2013.

Both ships of the class are planned to operate STOVL Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II aircraft after modifications. The modifications have been controversial as they seemingly violate Japan's post-World War II pacifist constitution, which restricts the country from possessing highly offensive weapons, such as aircraft carriers. Japanese and US officials have stated the vessels are not in violation, describing the vessels as defensive.

  • S = Reverse (set throttle to 0 first).
  • A & D = Turn left & right.
  • AG1-4 = Deploy helicopter.
  • AG5 = Launch strike fighter.
  • AG6 = Launch drone.
  • AG7 = Disable/enable the vessel system, toggle aircraft control.

Depth charge/grenade launcher controls

  • Manually controlled, will be delay for few seconds once fully fired.
  • VTOL = Rotate left/right.
  • Trim = Aim up/down.
  • LAlt = Fire.

CIWS controls

  • CIWS may quite unprecision, but it will deal damage to anything who dare to come closer to it.
  • Automatically aim at your target.
  • Spacebar = Fire CIWS.

Sea RAM controls

  • Sea RAM fires AA missiles and will automatically aims at target, but requires lock on target.
  • Automatically aim at your target.
  • LAlt = Launch Sea RAM missile (must lock-on target).

Torpedo controls:

  • Torpedo is hard to aim and unprecision, better use in close quarter battle situation or in close range.
  • VTOL = Rotate left/right.
  • LAlt = Launch torpedoes.

Aircraft control

Strike fighter control

  • Control like normal, but lack of reticle and HUD makes it harder to navigate it's target.
  • The strike fighter is including the VTOL mode.

Strike fighter armament

Main armament = Machine gun, deals damage to it's target.
Secondary armaments = Projectiles, deals heavy damage to it's target, but delays for every few seconds once fired.

Startup

  • AG7 = Turn on engine, disable/enable the vessel system, control the aircraft.
  • AG5 = Deploy aircraft

Take-off

  • You are on VTOL mode by default
  • Full throttle.
  • Once it is high enough, retract your landing gear to turn off VTOL mode and fly like normal

Controls

  • Normal flight control.
  • Landing Gear = VTOL
  • Spacebar = Fire weapons.

VTOL controls

  • Landing Gear up = Disable VTOL.
  • Landing Gear down = Enable VTOL

Helicopter control

  • Helicopter is hard to control and having a weird, Modern Warships-like camera angle. Try to get used to the controls then you will be more comfortable with the controls

Helicopter armament

Main gun = M134 Minigun (Deals high damage to any ground targets).

Startup

  • AG7 = Turn on engine, disable/enable the vessel system, control the aircraft.
  • AG1 = Deploy first helicopter.
  • AG2 = Deploy second helicopter.
  • AG3 = Deploy third helicopter.
  • AG4 = Deploy fourth helicopter.

CAUTION! When flying, do not turn off the engine at the mid-air or your helicopter will lose control and falling down.

Take-off

  • Full throttle.
  • Once it is high enough, set the throttle below 60 or 50.
  • Your helicopter should go airborne now, if the heli keeps going up you'll have to play with the throttle as well to create some balance (for hovering).

Controls

  • Normal flight control.
  • Throttle 50 = Fly low/hover.
  • Throttle 20 below = Go down.
  • Full throttle = Go up.
  • Spacebar = Fire guns.

Drone control

  • Control like normal, but lack of reticle and HUD makes it harder to navigate it's target.

Drone armament

Drone armaments= Projectiles, deals heavy damage to it's target, but delays for every few seconds once fired.

Startup

  • AG7 = Turn on engine, disable/enable the vessel system, control the aircraft.
  • AG6 = Deploy drone.

Take-off

  • Make sure you are in full throttle.
  • After you press the launch button, pitch up immediately, and fly like normal.

Controls

  • Normal flight control.
  • Spacebar = Fire weapons.

DISCLAIMER! The usage of all of the aircraft is SINGLE USE. It is not possible to land your aircraft back to the ship. Once you're done with it, you have to either leave them away or "sacrifice" it.

Trivia

General

  • As of 2022, the Izumo-class has been converted into a light aircraft carrier, and could be potentially carrying some VTOL fighters such as F-35B Lightning II, similar as most of LHD boats or amphibious assault ships such as USS Wasp (LHD-1) & USS America (LHA-6).
  • The Izumo-class carrier is probably the largest operating ship in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
  • There are two ships in Izumo-class carrier, the JS Izumo (DDH-183) and JS Kaga (DDH-184).

Monarchii

  • The ship namesake was named after Sumire Uesaka, the voice actress of HMS Warspite from Azur Lane, which is being a mascot character of Monarchii (Chii if you read this, please approve this as a certified whimsy moment).
  • Sumire is also known to be voicing Nonna from Girls Und Panzer and Hayase Nagatoro from Nagatoro Series.

Credits

Creator's note:

  • Because of it's huge scale, this will take a long time to load this craft (either saving or entering the game). And yes, continue to the next note.
  • This is might be one of my creation with the most parts. Plus it's loading time due to it's scale, this is obviously not mobile friendly.
  • The grenade launcher is a modification and altering which is taken from Monarchii's Type-76 BCV MRNS Chervona Noblysk. Credits also goes by honor to Monarchii himself.
