History
In 2001, Serbia requested the development of a new reconnaissance tank based on the BARSUK MK2 PROG prototype. They also wanted to create a competitor for the AMX 10 RC. This led to the creation of a prototype tank, the SDFR 130 BARSUK SDFR 6 MK17. It outperformed all other wheeled tanks in terms of competition. However, the tank was considered too light for its weight, which resulted in the installation of a 150-horsepower engine. Subsequently, the tank was adopted by 17 countries, including Serbia. It was deployed in the Second Chechen War, and out of 5,000 tanks, only 217 returned. The rest were either shot down, got stuck, or were rendered inoperable.
