Illustrious-Class Battlecruiser

Illustrious-Class Battlecruiser:

Launched: 1925

Armament: 5x2 16" main guns, 20 5.5" secondary guns

Armour: Belt: 13" deck: 6" turret faces: 16" barbettes: 14"

History: Launched in 1925 as a response by the Royal Telosian Navy to powerful new foreign battlecruiser designs such as the American Lexington-Class, Japanese Amagi-Class, and British Anson-Class (G-3 design), the Illustrious was equipped with a formidable armament of ten 16" (406mm) guns mounted in 5 turrets, in a similar arrangement to their Japanese adversaries the Amagi-Class. Equipped with relatively heavy armour for a battlecruiser, the Illustrious class was designed to have some resistance to the 16" guns that her rivals all mounted. Capable of 31 knots, they had the speed to run down most opponents, or flee any that might overpower them. The class consisted of four ships, Illustrious, Indefatigable, Intrepid, and Indomitable.
(More service history TBA)

Controls:
Roll controls steering. VTOL is turret and fire director traverse, trim is gun elevation.
AG1 arms the main guns
AG2 enables forward turret and director traverse
AG3 enables aft turret and director traverse (midships turret is in this group as well)
AG4 arms secondary guns and enables elevation and traverse of secondary guns and directors.
There are multiple cameras on board, with one in each main turret, and one in the main and secondary battery rangefinders/fire directors.

A special thanks to MintLynx for a multitude of modded parts. The propellers, rudders, and wonderful recoil enabled guns are all made by him. If you have not checked out his submarines yet, do so as soon as you can.

Definitely the highest part count of anything I have ever made! I don't think she'll be mobile friendly. Real world inspiration for the design comes from mainly three sources, the British Admiral and Renown classes, and the unbuilt Japanese Amagi-class. The bow in particular is combining my favorite elements of the two Brits mentioned, the raked stem of Hood, and the bulbous forefoot of Renown. Superstructure and hull form is pretty much based on British practices, while the caliber and layout of the guns is loosely based on the Amagi class. Hope everyone enjoys my first attempt at a surface ship!

Got an updated version in the works. Bit better handling (including astern movement capability), some nicer geometry on the bow, and, most importantly, using the cannon part for the guns!

Turning is still slow, but it's much better than before and quite fitting for a lumbering warship. The Turrets work as they should, and dang is there a lot of them. Not for lesser devices though because good golly did it lag, not on the level of SimpleSlideShow but a good amount. Once overload is made universal one thing I would suggest is using mostly parts without drag, as it can go a long way to reducing lag!

@MarshallLewisAerospace Modified is the proper term, given you built the turret and it was pretty simple for me to modify :) This looks quite nice! I'll download and check it out in the morning.
