The Mk-29 Sea Sparrow Launching System offers protection of naval vessels from airborne threats such as aircraft and incoming missiles. Early variants of the Mk-29 box launcher were equipped with 8 RIM-7 Sea Sparrows, which was essentially a modified version of the USAF's AIM-7 Sparrow. When the Evolved Sea Sparrow (ESSM), a much more capable successor to the Sea Sparrow, was introduced, Mk-29 Launching systems received 8 ESSMs instead of the older Sea Sparrows.

RIM-162 ESSM forms the medium-range protection layer for naval ships against airborne threats (the long-range layer being SM-2s and SM-6s and the short-range "last ditch" layer being RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missiles). The Mk-29 Sea Sparrow Launching System is used on the US Navy's aircraft carriers and on older warships not fitted with a vertical launching system (VLS).

I couldn't find the actual dimensions of the system, so I tried my best to scale it realistically using pictures and basing it off of my ESSM which is realistically scaled (The ESSMs are the same as this).

To save it as a subassembly to place on your ship, drag out the cockpit and then you should be able to drag the whole system.

Each missile has an orbit camera which I used to ensure each missile is working properly. You may choose to disable their cameras.

How to use:

AG 1 to activate the system
Pitch and Roll (mouse aim) to aim

Missile Characteristics/Features:

• Missile Max Range: 50 km / 27 nmi
• Missile Min Effective Range Range: 2-3 nmi? (How close before the missile can't turn in time to intercept the target. Depends on how fast the target is coming at you, if it's sea-skimming or coming at an angle, etc.)
• Missile Max Speed: 1372 m/s (Mach 4)
• Max Lock Range: 62.5 km / 33.75 nmi (Enough range so that a threat flying straight towards you at Mach 1 can be intercepted at the ESSM's maximum range of 27 nmi if you launch as soon as the target is locked at around 33 nmi.)
• Highly Maneuverable
• Proximity Detonation
