Shkval 1A project of the Soviet fighter VVP "from the tail"In the second half of the 20th century, the Young engineer R. Martiroson, who came to work in the design bureau of P. Sukhoi and was left without a real job, organized an initiative group of young engineers, which was engaged in the development and design of a completely new aircraft for the Soviet Union. The group consists of 10 engineers and designers. The new work of young specialists was recognized as relevant. A public design bureau was created, in which work was carried out during non-working hours. Shkval-1A was an aircraft with an X-shaped wing device and front horizontal all-moving tail. Fairings with internal fuel tanks and shock absorbers are installed at the ends of the wing for tail landing. To implement an unusual method of GDP and aircraft stabilization, a jet rudder control system was developed, installed in the automatic control system unit and interfaced with the navigation system. The pilot of the aircraft received a swivel seat, which allowed the pilot to be in a comfortable position during takeoff / landing. For the first time, control sticks located on the sides of the cockpit were proposed to control the aircraft.The finished layout was highly appreciated by the test pilots. They especially liked the execution of the cockpit and the original control of the aircraft. Throughout the creation of the project, the guys were assisted by specialists from CIAM, TsAGI, LII, related design bureaus, academies and institutes.
