ML-R-27 Silver Arrow (Stock Prop Challenge Entry)
Entry for the Stock Prop Speed Record Challenge
Racing Seaplane with more propellers than sense!
This is probably not the fastest entry, but I hope that I have a unique take among the entrants in that mine is a floatplane. The lower fuselage and engine nacelles are actually floats that extend on pistons when the landing gear are down, allowing water takeoff and landing.
To take off, pitch up as hard as possible, and give it full throttle.
To land, approach at 10% throttle, before cutting power completely. Landing speed is about 120 MPH. be sure to keep the nose up when landing, otherwise it will dive when it hits the water.
Full disclosure on the use of XML and qualification: The engines have not had their power altered beyond vanilla capabilities, but I did reduce their diameter to 70% for better water clearance. The center float is also XML modded, again in scale, to appear narrower than it actually is, as this allowed better float performance. Hopefully these don't disqualify this entry. But, even if they do, it was fun to make and post such a bonkers seaplane!
