[Target Airbase] BSAF 'Camp Poostein' v1 (700 parts)
Read description!
A spawnable airbase?! Whaaaaaat?!
This is a spawnable, stationary airbase build, made as a bombing/strafing target as well as a background scenery to populate the map. It comes with destructible buildings (such as traffic control tower and barracks), destructible vehicles (mainly aircrafts), and revetment area surrounded by almost non-functioning blast walls. Have fun!
How to use
Create a custom spawn facing EAST, then spawn the build on it. Using a vehicle with the ability to turn without moving forward or backward makes it easy. (Like a tank; here's my M103 https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/H7k1gB/M103A2-Heavy-Tank
Here's the coords for the custom spawn point (thanks to Englishgarden for asking):
X/long 5721,
Y/alt 71,
Z/lat -5331
On crediting & use in your works (IMPORTANT!)
-Feel free to use it as a target or background for photoshoot/video making. Just be sure to link this page and give me the credit! BUT...
To avoid unnecessary confusion or sort of 'false advertisement', please do not use this in the thumbnail picture of your aircraft upload. You may use it in the pics in the descriptions.
-If you decide to modify this by adding things made by other people, like a stationary cars or aircrafts, please make sure to keep the names of the builders somewhere (you can use the in-game Instructions of the build as a notepad), and give them the proper credit if/when you upload the modified version. I have respect for those who respect the effort of other people. ;)
Features
-This airbase exploits the "critically damaged" state/mechanic which causes the target marker of the damaged "aircraft" (build) to disappear. Since it will lose its target marker, other AI controlled vehicles (builds) in the map won't attack this base, meaning you can spawn builds such as the ZSU-23-4 by the MysteryTimeTraveler (link) or my MIG-17 interceptors (link to air version) to "defend" the base from you or other AI vehicles that may pose a threat to it. (Have you seen AI planes fly straight into the ground? It happens!)
-The traffic control tower & the barracks with triangular roofs are made to be 'explodable'; if you damage them with just the right size of explosion. they'll blow up like the sail barge from RotJ. They are made of a (heavy) base part, a core glass block, and exterior panels. Panels are connected to the glass block and some other blocks, and this allows them to get disconnected and fly off when hit with large enough explosion (not always).
(Feel free to use or experiment with this.)
-Half cylindrical barracks and water tower will explode (sometimes fail)
Vehicle list
-2x C-47 cargo planes
-7x F-84F fighter bomber
-2x RF-84F recon planes
-1x MJ-1 lift truck
*These are all my own builds, 1:1 scale, and made to wikipedia dimensions (except for the MJ-1 bomb lift, but I think it's close to 1:1 scale).
Base Tour
Famous water tower, often seen catching on fire.
MJ-1 lift truck. Also known as bomb lift, bomb loader, munition loader, jammer, and so on.
(I'll make a drivable version later)
Abandoned crates no one bothered to take inside for a week. Now mushy and gross thanks to rain... and everyone.
A shot from the top floor of the control tower.
The another tower seen in the distance is the tower of the Wright Airport. BSAF and the Wright Airport are known to be in less-than-good terms, and you can sometimes see snipers of each factions firing at each other from their respective control towers.
Close up shot of the water tower. The water tower may appear to dwarf the control tower in this photograph, but that's simply due to a visual trick.
Parked airplanes.
Barracks. These ones house the base's support personnels.
Water tower against the dark, stormy sky.

Comment
Overall looks are somewhat inspired by USAF bases (and its structures) in Thailand during the Vietnam War. I wanted to put more aircrafts, including some MIGs, but the parts count was going up really fast, so I decided not to.
-Revetment
The aircraft parking area surrounded by the walls (or... 'wall?' They are all connected) is called revetment. It took me forever to learn what it was called.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revetment_(aircraft)
The walls are simplified, but they are built to the general specifications of the actual revetment blast walls (at least according to the data I could find).
Actual thing was (at least on one account) 12 feet/3.657m tall and 5.5 feet/1.676m thick. Each panel was (at least in one place) 5 feet (1.524m) long. There also seems to be 10 feet version, or one with support pillar every 10 feet.
My version is very much simplified to save on the part count (previous versions had one with more parts that was more accurate to the real thing--but it just wasn't worth the cost). I might make an accurate version in the future for photoshoot purpose (no promises!).

Guys, if you haven't tried this yet, give it a try now! You probably won't regret it.
AI flak - 85mm AA gun
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/9i7JiL/AI-flak-gun-52-K-85mm-v1
This is a flak cannon that works with the base. It's made for Aggressive AI, and it actually fires the explosive cannon(s) at you or other AI planes flying around. It won't attack the base or each other, so you can basically create an air defense wherever you want (you need to create custom spawns though). Give it a try!!
Thank you for download, upvote, and highlight, everybody!:)
If you can't download this, or if it's too laggy, let me know. I'll create & upload a lighter version.
SECOND SUN OVER AIR BASE
@Kendog84 No, it's handmade.
@SPsidearm
Cool! Were you able to find the file?
@Kendog84 little update
The flyable F-84 is finished
@Kendog84 heyyo! Seems like the file was deleted
Mind re-upload?
@Ye4567
!https://www.simpleplanes.com/Notifications/View/51382749
Here it is, I've included all wings as it was easier in a way. It says RF-84, but it's identical to my F-84's (G, I think). Flap is assigned to trim, and trim tabs are assigned to VTOL
@Ye4567
Sure thing
@Kendog84 if you have a airworthy ver of the F-84, gimme one of it's wing pls
@Ye4567
No, I don't mind, go ahead!
I have actually built flyable versions before turning them static, but I never completed them. I'll link one here if I still have it somewhere, you may use that as the base, instead of one of those static models, if you like:)
Mind if i make one of the F-84 flyable?
@AlexTheLander bombing a military installation isn’t a war crime
I can already see the war crimes im gunna commit with this
I bombed it lol
@WinsWings
Thanks, that would make sense.
I think I'll try to make each class of gun/cannon AA distinct in terms of their effectiveness, based also on era. Looking back, I've made the 85mm flak too capable in the tracking department (rotates too fast).
@Kendog84 I did not notice much about those medium-sized guns, though Flack 88 was the most famous AA gun during WW2. I guess, all canon-type guns will be obsolete after the 1960s due to faster-moving jets, and only heavy machine guns (or machine canon) survive to this day.
@WinsWings
Mmm! I'm wondering if it's (it probably is) better to use machine gun parts for those. They are a bit more tricky to use though, and seems to have some limitations.
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/j40xqF/ZSU-23-4-Shilka-AI-Ground-Target
Here's a working example of it, it's also one of my inspirations.
If you don't mind me asking, do you know when the medium caliber AA guns were most prominent and when they were phased out? Stuff like 57mm guns.
@Kendog84 large machine guns such as ZSU-23 from 1960’s onward present days. The later ones will be controlled by some sort of radars
@Hannyboy
Go for it!
You can use this as the basis if you like. (You can easily remove or rearrange the planes.)
I'll probably upload the structures in a separate upload as a starter kit.
Now I feel like making my own spawnable air base
@WinsWings
Mm... But on a second thought, I'd guess it was probably the lighter AAA that were more prevalent post ww2 (I'm not well read on this).. so yeah, you're probably right it's more appropriate for the ww2 settings. Gotta the make the smaller AA guns at some point, haha
@Kendog84 No problem, Speaking about Flak, brings me back to WW2, in which they were used mainly. but it may have been used much later till the '60s or '70s.
@WinsWings
Thank you. (And for highlighting that one, too)
The 52-K flak works in a Vietnam war settings, also! If I'm correct it was among the AAA models used by the North Vietnamese military.
.
Edit
Checked the page I got the info from just in case (I started to doubt my memory), it's listed as 85mm air defense gun M1944... phew, lol
