The XM909 Twister is a prototype 8x8 armored car designed by KRIEG, proposed to the Paternian Army in the 1970's as a replacement for the aging M9 Sighthound. Competing with the Bandit Commando and Dragon Light Reconnaissance Vehicle (LRV), it performed admirably in mobility trials thanks to its excellent suspension and flexibly-mounted articulated steering system.

An unintentional benefit to the design was its high resilience to mine blasts due to its partial V-shaped hull and articulated front unit. This was seen as a major benefit, since the M9 Sighthound suffered against mine blasts.

However, the system proved too complicated and expensive compared to competitors, and it lost to the Commando. However, it did achieve some foreign sales. An improved variant, the M1310, was eventually adopted by the Paternian Army for mine-clearing purposes.
