Messerschmitt Me-264 "Amerika Bomber"
I tried my hand at a WW2 heavy bomber this time. The Messerschmitt Me 264 was a long-range strategic bomber developed during World War II for the German Luftwaffe as its main strategic bomber. The design was later selected as Messerschmitt's competitor in the Reichsluftfahrtministerium's (the German Air Ministry) Amerikabomber programme, for a strategic bomber capable of attacking New York City from bases in France or the Azores. She's heavy and cumbersome of course, but flies smoothly enough. (AG1) drops the load, (AG2) hands control to the cannon/machine gun turrets using VTOL and trim sliders. (AG3) extends flaps. Use (AG4) to assign the trim slider to the trim tabs for pitch adjustment -just make sure to switch it off again when using the turrets. (AG5) opens/closes bomb doors, (AG6) operates the nav lights. I incorporated (with thanks) the bomb sight by SnoWFLakE0S,. Have fun carpet-bombing... this is the best I could do without an excessive part count...

Design is amazing but it is a me 264 and for a Long Range bomber it Maneuvers way to Quick and the it could take-off way to fast because the me-264 needed rocket boosters to take-off but it stil a amazing build
@Alerthercules80 itis
这个投弹器好神奇!
how to operate the bomb site without moving the plane?
german superfortress
@123456sty get a better phone ;D
好家伙1110个零件!手机快爆炸了
Good
@Asdavis1053 I just spawned several of these at "Maywar takeoff" -no problems, except for things slowing down somewhat...
Every time I spawn it it blows up instantly
Phlydaily would love this
Noice
@ThomasRoderick true... yet a B29 would carry 32 such bombs on shorter runs, and even a good old B17 could have up to 16. These bombers were certainly not sent in as "lone cowboys"; hundreds of planes were often involved in a single bombing raid. As for the "need", well...
Good boi
@typicalbuilder @ RAAF i agree it would be much better if there were contrails.
Great!
Absolutely stunning level of detail right here. You captured the smoothness of the aircraft's lines pretty well, really gives it that trademark Messerschmitt feeling.
@Seeras Thanks. And there's not a bit, but WAY too many bombs -but then, there are way too few bombers. Any strategic raid would feature swarms of such planes, and I have no idea how to arrange for those -hence the lame solution of putting all eggs in a single basked, so to speak ;)
perfection.🤩
very well done!
maybe a bit to many bombs. 😅
Nice.
@Stormfur Good luck with that... looking forward to the result.
I would LOVE IT if SP could add contrails into the game. It would make any big plane look so much more awesome!
i am making a full interior Me 264. would have been done by now if it wasn't for a broken tablet
amazing!
This is a great build!
