SSD Inc. RD-15 Vega
The RD-15 Vega is a starfighter that was proposed by SSD Incorperated.
SSD Inc. had plans for a VTOL SSTO spaceplane without horizontal or vertical stablizers. Pitch and Yaw where controlled by a reaction controll wheel that also controlled the spaceplane in space. The reaction controll wheel was controlled by a computer. The advanced starfighter had a button to translate to horizontal flight, a joystick that inputed controlls into the computer that controlled the reaction controll wheel, a naviball, indicators, and a monitor display.
It was armed with 4x turbolasers. 4 wing mounts where placed on the underside of the wings, abile to mount proton torpedoes.
Testing revealed the SSTO spaceplane had a tendency to go into an unrecoverable dealth stall. This was solved with the computer controlled reaction controll wheel.
It is still in service with the HSF (Human Space Force).
