Auto Credit Based on DogThatMakesPlanes's Cargo Plane Challenge! (Closed)
Built to replace the C-130 Hercules in the 1960s, the Emu originally had 4 propellers, but pater upgraded to have two jet pods for speed in the Delta model, similar to the B-36 Peacemaker. The plane could carry larger payloads and was quite cheap to build making it a well rounded stepping stone from the C-130 to later planes like the C-17 and C-5.
