1 turret rotation In 1917, Ridge Aviation worked on a 2-seat pusher prop aircraft design to break up trench lines with ground attack focused weapons. With thicker skin and a manually loaded 50 caliber nose turret, the prototype showed promising results. Wing mounted bombs were added to increase the overall effectiveness of the ground attacker, and teamed with the paint scheme, the Gull was nicknamed the "Fall Bomber" by ground troops for its resemblance to fall leaf colors. After WW 1, the lessons learned went into the next generation of fight/ground attack aircraft, such as the Ridge Spear and Arrow.
