Profile in Europan Glossary
The experience of EW1 showed an urgent need for a mobile and at the same time protected tank, and even before the start of EW2, it was decided to develop a new type of medium tank. The best results were achieved by the Krimm corporation. Its prototype incorporating electric-welding rather than rivets or casting armour to increase its defense. Their most notable feature is their sloped plating, which redirects the force of enemy rounds. Due to this, these tanks were practically invulnerable in the frontal projection for the tanks of the Federation, Gallian Light Tanks did not have a chance at all.
The KrN-334 cannon, specially developed for this tank, had excellent characteristics for its time, however, modernization opportunities were clearly not exhausted.
Among the soldiers received the nickname "Käfer" after the hard carapace of a beetle and also because of the prototypes had an index "K". Many people are confused that the tank has a nickname "Käfer" and code name"Pardus", which are not even closely related. This happened because the tank received the code name later, and the soldiers got used to the nickname.
The only worthy opponents for this tank were Federation tanks with heavy 76mm cannons which appeared closer to the second half of the war, Gallian Tank Destroyers, Gallian Heavy Tanks and of course Edelweiss, but Gallia had such a limited amount of those vehicles so they were hardly used in real combat operations.
Despite all the advantages of this tank, the Empire was not able to fully rearm all its armored forces before the war and only a few elite battalions were fully equipped with these vehicles. A small amount of this tanks became its main drawback, because of which almost all of them were on the Eastern Front, and only two platoons with these tanks received forces of the Invasion of Gallia.
Federation could afford to set up 4-5 tanks against each such imperial tank, although even this was not always enough. The Gallian army, due to the small amount of this vehicle, almost did not meet with them before the battle for Naggiar Plains and Ghirlandaio fortress. After Naggiar, almost all of these tanks were sent to the Eastern Front and only two remained in the fortress, where one was destroyed by a subsequent explosion, and the second was studied by the Gallians. Based on this tank, Gallia created medium tank after the war, and also modified the heavy one.
